Pedestrian Sundays in Kensington Market:
Community – Culture – Ecology. Pedestrian-only streets in Kensington Market, Toronto – last Sunday of every month from May to October. Pedestrian Sundays are homemade – from the signs, to the music, to the giant piñatas, it’s the human touch that sets these apart from other street festivals. Entertainers play for love not money; from the metal band of the baker’s kid, to the jazz of the world renowned sax-playing neighbour.

Sonya's ParkSonya’s Park
Kairo Dey and Christine Deuerlein founded the The Green Culture Festival as a celebration of green initiatives in Kensington Market in 2009.  Money raised during each festival is revitalizing Sonya’s Park
in Kensington with Community Flower Gardens. Together with Mark Meister and Steve Pryce, Kairo and Christine continue to nurture the gardens.
Creating gardens has created a more welcoming atmosphere for the community to enjoy the park. We have more families spending time in the park and more breaks being taken among the gardens.
Sonya’s Park Community Flower Gardens has also received money from the
Toronto City Trees and Parks Foundation and KMAC.
You can find them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/79332248381/ and contact them through email at christinedeuerlein@yahoo.com
Volunteers are always welcome!
